I happen to LOVE this quote. I had never heard it before today, and I have to say, it really hits home. I am an advocate for helping others and that truly being happy involves being more selfless than selfish. John Wooden is saying the same thing here. Always look for the opportunity to help someone in need, and never expect anything back. You will make the world a better place and help instill a wave of ‘pay it forward’ to those around you. Not only will caring for others be fulfilling in your life, but who knows? When the time comes that you need help; there might just be someone who’s been waiting to return the favor.
