Quote of the Day: 10/19/11

“Just when you think it can’t get any worse, it can. And just when you think it can’t get any better, it can.”

-Nicholas Sparks

When it rains it pours. No one likes bad news, but sometimes the bad just keeps on coming. There’s something to remember when you are feeling overwhelmed and that nothing can get any worse; this too shall pass. It’s something my mother used to say to me when I was feeling down. It doesn’t mean that tomorrow will be any better, but that it can actually keep getting worse. For a while. That’s part of life; it’s a roller coaster that we can’t control. What we can do is control how we react to the situations in our life, and if you can have the maturity and the patience to tell yourself that the hard time you are going through will eventually pass, then you are one step closer to happiness.

The same goes for when things are going good for you. If you truly think that nothing else can improve; chances are they actually can. So, don’t ever settle for ‘just good enough,’ because there is always potential that things could get better in your current situation. If you’re on a roll, stay on it for as long as you can; that way you can find out what the real limits are of your streak. Try and find that out this week.
